Osogbo, Osun State, was shaken on Thursday by a heart-wrenching tragedy as Bishop Shina Olaribigbe, the founder of Rapture Empowerment International, was brutally killed while mediating a domestic dispute.
Renowned for his commitment to peace and reconciliation, the clergyman’s attempt to resolve a conflict turned fatal in a shocking twist of events.
The incident occurred when Bishop Olaribigbe visited the home of a female interpreter from his church who was reportedly unwell. Although the woman and her estranged husband had been living apart due to ongoing marital disputes, they were still legally married.
In a devastating turn, the husband unexpectedly arrived at the residence early in the day and found Bishop Olaribigbe there. The confrontation escalated into a heated argument, which tragically spiraled out of control.
According to a source close to the church, the altercation took a violent turn. “The man, in a fit of rage, grabbed a knife and stabbed the bishop in the chest. The injury was fatal, and Bishop Olaribigbe died instantly,” the source disclosed.
The horrific incident has left the church community and local residents in profound shock. Authorities from the Dugbe Police Division quickly detained both the husband and wife for questioning, while Bishop Olaribigbe’s body was transferred to the morgue at the University of Osun Teaching Hospital.
