Nigerian comedian Bright Okpocha, widely known as Basketmouth, has announced his plans to fully transition into music and filmmaking in 2025.
The comedy icon, who admits his journey into stand-up was unexpected, revealed that his true passion lies in music and movies.
In a recent interview with Pulse, Basketmouth shared, “I’m taking music more seriously in 2025. I plan to create EPs because there are artists I’m eager to collaborate with. Movies and music will be my main focus moving forward.”
Despite his success in comedy, Basketmouth disclosed that his original dream was to pursue music. “Movies have always been my top priority over comedy. It’s just that I haven’t made one yet,” he said.
Reflecting on his early career, he explained, “I started with music, but things didn’t work out as I hoped. I’ve always been funny, even in primary school, but music was a talent I thought I could explore. Rap was my thing, but when it didn’t pan out, I stumbled into comedy. It happened by fluke, but it worked, so I stuck with it. Once I figured it out, my career took off.”
With this new chapter, fans can expect to see Basketmouth channel his creativity into crafting memorable films and collaborating with top-tier artists in the music industry.
