Pant thieves arrested in Niger state

In Lapai and Kaffin-Koro area of Niger state,  Mohammed Ali 24; Ephraim Isaiah 19 and Abubakar Sadiq 18 were arrested for stealing panties.


Mohammed Ali, a tailor, was arrested when he tried removing a female pant spread inside the room of a female student in State Low-Lost in Lapai. He confessed that he had been contacted and promised N20,000 by one Madaji Yabajeko from Agaie if he could steal four female pants.

The second Niger bridge nears completion.

The federal government of Nigeria are fulfilling their promise of starting and completing the second Niger bridge. The project  was commissioned some months ago while the construction works started.

So far, the work is currently at 44.6% completion. The 1.2km sand filling of the road at the asaba end has reached the height of 2.2m out of the expected 5m. At the Onitsha end, the workers has done enough of sand filling of embarkments thereby completing 44.6% of the total construction works.

Gunmen suspected to be armed robbers attacked two new generation bank branches in Niger state

The incident happened on Wednesday, November 29, in Lapai town, Lapai local government area of the state

- The robbers were said to be in a convoy of two vehicles

A report by Daily Trust indicates that gunmen suspected to be armed robbers attacked two new generation bank branches on Wednesday, November 29, in Lapai town, Lapai local government area of Niger state.

According to the report, the robbers killed two policemen and an undisclosed number of civilians during the attack.

Witnesses quoted in the report, said the robbers stormed the town in large numbers and initially attacked one of the banks along Suleja road beside Kobo Campus of the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University before turning on another bank along Minna road.

They were said to have entered the town through Lapai-Gulu road in a convoy of two vehicles.

The robbers reportedly abducted the manager of one of the banks, whose name could not be immediately ascertained.

They were said to have launched the attacks at about 5pm, even as witnesses said the operation lasted for over an hour.

The report said they carted away undisclosed amount of cash in Ghana-must-go bags through Lapai-Paiko road.

However, a reinforced joint team of military and police were seen chasing after the fleeing robbers but it was not clear whether they were able to apprehend them.

Those who sustained injuries during the operation were however rushed to hospitals for medical attention.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian police has paraded some suspected criminal elements said to specialize in kidnapping, armed robbery and car snatching.

The different gangs paraded by the police reportedly operate in the Abuja-Kaduna, Abuja-Minna-Bida, Birnin Gwari-Funtua and Abuja-Lokoja highways.

They were arrested as a result of the Operation Absolute Sanity, which was recently strengthened with additional police personnel and needed logistics by the Inspector-General of Police Ibrahim K. Idris.
