Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain has come under fire from former France coach Raymond Domenech for making salacious remarks about Argentina and Brazil's football teams and the quality of South American football.

Mbappe asserted that neither Brazil nor Argentina faced challenging opponents to earn a spot in the 2022 World Cup.

The France international made this statement in an effort to highlight the differences between football in Europe and South America, with a focus on the caliber of the national teams in each region.

According to Mbappe, who spoke to TNT Brasil via Footmercato, "Argentina and Brazil don't play top matches before qualifying for the World Cup."

Football is not as developed in South America as it is in Europe. And for that reason, whenever you look at the most recent World Cups, European teams always come out on top.

However, Mbappe’s statement didn’t sit well with Domenech, who said that the former Monaco star would have kept quiet.

“Mbappe, it would have been better if he kept quiet,” Domenech told Ole, as quoted by Footmercato.

“You cannot say such a thing, say that Chile or Colombia are not good teams. There are players who play in Europe, in all the clubs. Teams like Uruguay, with top players I don’t know... He shouldn’t have mentioned it. For me, you can’t say that. "
