Sequel to the disturbing video circulating online, purportedly depicting misconduct by one of its faculty members, the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, has swiftly moved to address the situation.

The video allegedly shows Mr. Mfonobong Udoudom, a lecturer within the General Studies division, engaging in inappropriate behavior towards a female student while clad only in boxers.

Taking immediate action, the university has suspended Mr. Udoudom indefinitely pending a thorough investigation into the incident. Clarifying that Mr. Udoudom is not a professor, an official statement released on Tuesday by Acting Public Relations Officer Chief Okwun Omeaku underscored the institution's zero-tolerance stance towards sexual misconduct involving staff and students.

The suspension aims to facilitate a comprehensive inquiry by a disciplinary panel convened by the university. "As a university, we are committed to protecting our students from any form of abuse and exploitation," the statement affirmed, highlighting the gravity of the situation and the importance of upholding ethical standards.

Emphasizing its dedication to the welfare of its academic community, the University of Nigeria reiterated its commitment to conducting a thorough investigation. Should Mr. Udoudom be found guilty by the disciplinary panel, appropriate sanctions will be imposed in accordance with university rules.

The emergence of the video has elicited widespread concern and condemnation, prompting assurances from university authorities of a transparent and expedient response. The University of Nigeria remains steadfast in its commitment to maintaining a safe and conducive learning environment for all students, underlining the imperative of accountability and adherence to established guidelines.
