The ongoing strike embark on by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, may linger beyond expectation has the Union President said it would not call off the ongoing strike until the Federal Government yield to its demand.
The ASUU President, Prof Biodun Ogunyemi, stated this on Sunday in Lagos while briefing newsmen on the update of the about over 6 weeks old ongoing union industrial action.
He said the federal government had not shown reasonable commitment so far to resolve their differences.
Meanwhile, it will be recalles that last week the spokesman for INEC said the ongoing strike by ASUU may affect the general election in the country and therefore the union should therefore consider the national interest.
In sequel to INEC threat, the ASUU president said the strike shouldn’t be a threat to the 2019 elections and therefore, the strike should not be politicized in any case.
