Veteran Nigerian singer John Odafe Asiemo, popularly known as Daddy Showkey, recently shared a heartfelt story about discovering his musical talent while working at a motor park.

"I was working in the motor park as a ticketer when someone told me I had a good voice and suggested I consider becoming a musician," Daddy Showkey recalled. "At first, I was sceptical because I didn’t know how to sing. But when I gave it a shot, everyone loved it, and that's how I became a musician."

Addressing the ongoing debate about young artists acknowledging the contributions of music legends, Daddy Showkey expressed that he isn't concerned about receiving accolades for paving the way.

He believes it's up to the new generation of artists to recognize and admit the influence of those who came before them.
