Kanye West's 2020 White House campaign and support for former President Donald Trump led John Legend to sever his friendship with him.
Because "we publicly disagreed on his running for office and supporting Trump," Legend was no longer able to give the friendship the "green light."
The singer-songwriter said they weren't "friends as much as we used to be" during an interview with David Axelrod on CNN's "The Axe Files" podcast.
While Trump was president, the West gave him a lot of support, donning "Make America Great Again" hats and visiting him in the Oval Office.
According to the Hill, the rapper declared his 2020 presidential campaign on Twitter with the handle "birthday party" because he believed that by trusting God, he could influence American politics.
West wasn't pleased with his loved ones' lack of support while he was campaigning.
