Sir Ian Holm who was a star in the popular Lord of the Rings trilogy movie and Chariots of fire has died at age 88 following a battle with Parkinson's disease.
The award-winning actor passed away in hospital surrounded by his family and was remembered as 'charming, kind and ferociously talented'. He leaves behind his wife, Sophie de Stempel, and five children from his previous marriages.
Sir Ian famously played Bilbo Baggins in the hit trilogy and revived the role for the later Hobbit film series.
As a result of his impact in the movie industry he was knighted with Sir by the Queen.
