Nollywood mourns the loss of one of its oldest stars, Chief Charles Olumo, affectionately known as Agbako, who passed away at 101.
A legendary figure in Nigerian cinema, Agbako was cherished for his extraordinary acting and his vibrant presence on screen, marking a career that spanned decades.
The Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) announced Agbako’s passing on Thursday through its president, Bolaji Amusan (popularly known as Mr. Latin). In his statement, Mr. Latin confirmed that Agbako, beloved by both fans and colleagues, departed this world on October 31, 2024. Reflecting on the actor’s life, Mr. Latin noted, “Details of the burial arrangements will be shared at a later time. Good night, father.”
Actor Owolabi Ajasa paid tribute, recognizing Agbako as the industry’s eldest figure, while Kunle Afod honored the legend’s legacy with a heartfelt goodbye: “Good night Pa Chalse Olumo. The oldest actor. Sun re ooo.”
Agbako’s legacy lives on, celebrated by fans and colleagues who remember him as a remarkable talent and a cultural icon.
