Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine is currently in custody in New York after a judge ordered his detainment on Tuesday for allegedly violating the terms of his parole.
The 28-year-old artist, whose real name is Daniel Hernández, was detained on an arrest warrant and subsequently arraigned in Manhattan’s federal court, where he faced allegations of breaking the conditions of his supervised release. The order was signed by U.S. District Judge Paul A. Englemayer, and the rapper is now set for an evidentiary hearing on November 12.
Hernández, best known for his hit song “Gummo,” had been on parole after serving two years in prison following a 2019 racketeering conviction tied to his involvement with the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods. His sentence was notably reduced after he cooperated as a witness in the case. According to reports from the Associated Press, the current allegations include claims of skipped and failed drug tests and unauthorized travel to Las Vegas for a performance in September.
Hernández has pleaded not guilty to these violations and will remain in custody until his court appearance in mid-November, according to the Associated Press and Billboard.
