It comes as no surprise that Nigerian musician, Habeeb Okikiola popularly known as Portable, has recently joined the campaign train of the Accord Party in Oyo state

In July last year, the Zazuu star stirred controversy when he declared support for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.

This, of course, resulted in a beef with fellow musician Davido, who was supporting a different candidate.

Six months on, Portable has now been spotted campaigning for the Accord Party in Oyo State. He hopped on the campaign train of Shina Peller, a House of Representatives member seeking re-election for the Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa federal constituency, in Oyo. Portable has made appearances in several local towns to connect with potential voters and help spread the word of the Accord Party.

It is admirable to see such passionate support from Portable for his chosen candidate. By taking on the role of campaigner, he is doing more to help spread knowledge of the cause and foster support. Hopefully, this will lead to increased turnout at the polls for the Accord Party in Oyo State and beyond.

Portable’s move marks a positive shift from the infamous beef between him and Davido, which had to do with their respective political choices. It’s a reminder that partisanship should not be taken to the extreme and that it’s possible to support different sides without animosity.

Overall, Portable’s recent decision to join the Accord Party’s campaign in Oyo State is a commendable one. With his support, the Accord Party is sure to experience a surge in visibility and solidarity with its voters.
