Abdulgafar Ahmad, better known online as Cute Abiola, is a well-known comic actor who recently announced his resignation from the Nigerian Navy.
A few hours after being named the governor of Kwara State's special assistant for the creative industries, comedian Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq resigned from his position.
Cute Abiola, who made the announcement on his verified Facebook account on Friday, claimed that the Chief of Naval Staff had given the go-ahead for his departure.
He declared he would put more of his attention toward his entertainment industry career.
He claims that his time spent in the Navy has given him the discipline he needs to lead a successful life.
"I am still a member of the Nigerian Navy family, and I promise to continue to represent the Nigerian Navy in a positive light both domestically and internationally." "I am proud to have served in such an institution as the Nigerian Navy,” he said.
While appreciating Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo, the Chief of Naval Staff, and senior colleagues for their immense contribution towards the development of his career, the skit maker described the Nigerian Navy as his roadmap to a sustainable career path.
The skit maker was earlier, in November 2021, detained and punished by the Nigerian Navy for violating the armed forces’ social media policy after posting a video of himself in military uniform on social media.
