It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Madam Elizabeth Evoeme, fondly remembered as Ovularia from the beloved 80s TV sitcom ‘The New Masquerade’.

She peacefully passed away at the age of 81, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born on December 1, 1942, Ovularia's family confirmed her demise, expressing gratitude to fans, friends, and colleagues for their unwavering support during this difficult time. They have requested privacy as they mourn their loss.

In a statement released by the Evoeme Emekalam family, they shared, “Friends, fans, colleagues, the family of the legendary actress, Elizabeth Lizzy ‘Ovularia’ Evoeme, would like to notify the public, all those who loved her and her work in ‘The New Masquerade,’ of her passing."
Ovularia's daughter, Justina Ngozi Evoeme, based in London, described her mother's death as both painful and shocking, stating, “I need to get my head around what has happened.”

This news comes after Ovularia was previously rumored to have passed away on November 5, 2019. Responding to those false reports, she clarified that she was not seriously ill and condemned those behind the rumors. Chika Okpala, known for his role as Chief Zebrudaya Okoroigwe Nwaogbe, also debunked the rumors, confirming Ovularia’s well-being.

Madam Elizabeth Evoeme will be dearly missed and remembered for her iconic role in Nigerian television history. May she rest in perfect peace.
