Nigerian music icon Tiwa Savage has opened up about why she avoids signing upcoming artists, stating that managing them is not her strength.
In a recent interview with Forbes Africa, the 45-year-old singer explained that handling the behaviors and challenges of new artists is stressful, and she prefers to support the industry in a different way.
"People always ask me, ‘When are you signing an artiste?’ But honestly, I don’t think I have the gift for that because it’s too much stress. I could just wake up one morning, and my artiste is trending for the wrong reasons," Tiwa said.
Instead of signing artistes, she revealed her plans to create a music school where young talents can learn, develop their skills, and later get signed by labels that can properly manage them.
"I do have the gift to help, which is why I want to establish a music school where upcoming artistes can gain knowledge and eventually get signed to labels that can truly support them," she added.
This revelation highlights Tiwa Savage’s vision to contribute to the growth of the Nigerian music industry in a structured and impactful way.
