Kingsley Okorie, half of the popular Nigerian highlife band, The Cavemen, has revealed why he chose to do music professionally despite being a certified lawyer.

He said music has always been his first love, adding that after Law school he decided to do music professionally with his brother, Benjamin, instead of practicing as a lawyer.

He made this known while appearing on the latest episode of The Nancy Isime Show alongside his brother and bandmate, Benjamin Okorie.

Benjamin said that, unlike his brother, he refused to go to the university and instead went to a music school.

“He [Kingsley] went to the university; I refused to go to the university. I went to a music school and studied music for two years. Then we came back together.
Kingsley inferred: “After law school, I came back to the house and I told my brother, ‘Yo, in law school while I was going to a civil litigation class, I thought about it because I was in Kano, I’m away from Lagos and Abuja where I would get gigs, so I think I’m in a cave. I think I’m a caveman.’ And my brother was like, Yeah, that is the name.”
Benjamin added: “I have been playing the drums since I was 2. I failed WEAC. I told my mom that I wanted to go to the music school, and she said okay. The firstborn [Kingsley] is pursuing his law career as the firstborn, so there was no pressure on me, which was perfect to do what I really love. And that is what we are using to feed the family now.”
