Today September 4 2018 President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita (IBK) was sworn in for the second term of 5 years as the substantial president of Mali.

The 73 year old president who won the August 16 rerun election and was also favour with the court verdict of August 20 2018 was sworn in despite the election's fraud allegation being made by his major opponent Soumaila Cisse.

It will be recalled that IBK was first elected as the president of Mali in 2013 after defeating his then and now major opponent Soumaila Cisse and contested for second term of five years which is constitutionally allowed in the country.

In his inaugural speech today, he affirmed that he will run a secular state which is free of religion extremists in the country and also will work together with others in order to move the country forward.

“I reach out to all those who want Mali to succeed, all who want to believe in this beautiful nation, without exception,” said Keita in his inaugural speech.
