China has expressed support for the proposed peace talks between former U.
S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, aimed at resolving the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
Speaking on Thursday, Beijing Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun emphasized China’s backing for open dialogue between global powers.
"Russia and the U.S. are both influential nations, and China welcomes their efforts to enhance communication and cooperation on key international issues," Jiakun stated.
China has consistently advocated for negotiations as the only viable solution to the crisis. From the outset, President Xi Jinping has pushed for a diplomatic resolution, reaffirming Beijing’s commitment to peace.
Trump reportedly held a phone conversation with Putin on Wednesday, where both leaders agreed to initiate negotiations to end the war in Ukraine. Meanwhile, Trump's administration has outlined a proposed peace deal, aligning with several of Moscow’s key interests.
