At least 20 people have been killed in a traffic collision on the Kaduna–Abuja Expressway.

A bus rammed into a cement trailer parked along the Abuja-Kaduna route at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17.

The event was confirmed by Hafiz Muhammad, state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), who stated that the agency suspected weariness on the part of the driver, who was on a night journey.

"The bus collided with a BUA Cement trailer before bursting into flames. Twenty-two individuals were on board the bus; 20 of them died, "he stated.
"Those who died include 17 male adults, 2 females, and a minor." They said the trailer was parked when the bus went under it. It was terrible because we always cautioned bus drivers against night journeys.

Muhammad said though there was no law against night journeys, it’s very risky because most of the accidents recorded along that route are due to night journeys.
