The Columbus community mourns the unexpected passing of Rev.

Rev. Kee dedicated nearly 35 years of his life to serving as the pastor of New Faith Baptist Church. Known as the "Pastor for the Master," he was a compassionate leader, humanitarian, and talented singer who left an indelible mark on his congregation and the community at large.

Among his many contributions, Rev. Kee co-founded the Area Religious Coalition alongside Rev. Tim Ahrens, former pastor of First Congregational Church, Downtown. Together, they led a group of 75 religious leaders in addressing systemic racism and prejudice within the Columbus Division of Police.

Rev. Kee was also a founding pastor and co-president of BREAD (Building Responsibility, Equality, and Dignity), an ecumenical community organization established in 1995 to promote justice and equity.

Reflecting on Kee’s impact, Rev. Ahrens shared, "You measure someone’s legacy by how they handle the little things. Jefferey’s life was like a thousand points of light—small acts of kindness and advocacy that added up to an immense and transformative life." He recalled how Kee often joined him in prayer with those in need and worked tirelessly to promote equity within the police force.

Rev. Kee’s legacy of compassion, justice, and unwavering service will continue to inspire all who knew him.
