In a tragic incident , at least 27 fishermen have fallen victim to a brutal attack by the Jamā’at Ahl as-Sunnah, Lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihād, commonly known as Boko Haram, along the border of Cameroon and Nigeria.
The assault, believed to be orchestrated by the Buduma faction of Abou Ummaymah, targeted a local fishing community situated primarily with Nigerian fishermen at Island Kofiya, near Darak in Cameroon.
According to sources, the attackers, in a horrifying act, bound the fishermen's hands before carrying out the heinous act of slaughtering them. Additionally, three other fishermen were abducted on accusations of espionage for the ISWAP faction.
Following the gruesome attack, a joint effort by troops and fellow fishermen was initiated, resulting in the recovery of the victims' bodies. This tragic incident underscores the ongoing threat posed by extremist groups in the region and the need for continued vigilance and cooperation among neighboring communities and security forces.
