The continuing continuous voter registration (CVR) effort will now run an additional 60 days, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The initial registration date set by INEC was the end of June 2022.

Aishatu Jibril Dukku, the chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Electoral Matters, revealed this while outlining the committee's initiatives to see that a House resolution adopted last week is carried out.

Dukku informed the House during Wednesday's session that "the Committee held a meeting with INEC yesterday (Tuesday) and they agreed to prolong the CVR."

On Monday, the Federal High Court in Abuja blocked INEC's plan to conclude voter registration on June 30, 2022.

Following the hearing of a motion ex parte by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon of Court 10 issued an order of temporary injunction (SERAP).
