Mojisola Lasbat Meranda has made history as the newly elected Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, following the impeachment of Mudashiru Obasa on January 13, 2025, due to gross misconduct and abuse of office.
Born in Lagos, Nigeria, in August 1980, Meranda’s educational path is a testament to her dedication and ambition. She began her studies at Randle Primary School before moving on to Anglican Girls Grammar School and Ansar-Ud-Deen Secondary School, where she earned her West African Senior Certificate in 1998.
Meranda’s academic journey didn’t stop there. She earned a Certificate in Software Development (Network Engineering) from NIIT and later pursued a B.Sc. in Public Administration at Lagos State University (LASU) in 2013. In 2020, she obtained a Master’s degree in Public and International Affairs from the University of Lagos and is currently pursuing an MBA in Public Sector Management at the University of York, UK.
Her professional career has been equally impressive. Meranda began as a Personal Assistant to the Senior Special Assistant on Information Technology before advancing to the position of Personal Assistant to the Director of the Land Information System Support Unit (LISSU) in the Surveyor General's office. She later worked as Office Manager at Cirrus Nigeria Limited in Lekki, Lagos, and founded Worthline International Services Limited, where she served as the Managing Director and CEO.
Meranda’s rise to prominence is a powerful example of dedication, hard work, and a relentless drive for excellence in both the public and private sectors. As the new Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, she is poised to make a significant impact on the state's political landscape.
