Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was confirmed as the governor of Osun State by the Supreme Court, which was in session in Abuja on Tuesday.

The decision came after a previous one by a three-judge panel of the appellate court chaired by Mohammed Shuaibu, which confirmed his victory and overturned the election petition tribunal's ruling.

The election petition tribunal declared the governor's victory invalid in January of this year.

The state's recently-departed governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, had petitioned against Adeleke's victory.

Details to follow.
