Prince Mohammed Kabir Olaoye filed a lawsuit to contest the kingmakers' selection of Prince Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye as Soun of Ogbomoso, and an Oyo State High Court sitting in Ogbomoso set October 3 for judgment in the case.

The Daily Post recalls that after Oba Jimoh Oyewumi's passing on December 12, 2021, the Soun of Ogbomoso throne became vacant.

Tuesday has been set as the date by Justice A.K. Adedokun.

After Olaoye's attorney, Oladapo Atanda, and Kolawole Fatoye, who represented Ghandi and the kingmakers, adopted their procedures and presented their arguments for and against the lawsuit, which was filed in July 2022 and was marked HOG/27/2022, the judgment date was set.

He requested that the court order a new nomination process and set aside the nomination, among other reliefs.

The defendants in the case include the Oyo State governor, Attorney General in the state, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Ogbomoso North Local Government, Ogbomoso North Traditional Council, and Prince Amos Olawole Olaoye (Mogaji Olaoye ruling house), who are the 1st to 6th defendants, respectively.

The 7th to 11th defendants are the kingmakers led by Chief S.O. Otolorin (Areago of Ogbomoso and chairman), Chief Salawu Ajadi (Jagun), Chief Tijani Abioye (Bara), Cheif David Adeniran Ojo (Ikolaba), and Chief Yusuf Kasali Oladipupo (Abese), while Prince Ghandi Olaoye, the Soun nominee, is the 12th defendant.
