The Director-General of the Peter Obi Campaign Organization has said that the substantive vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party will be announced between Wednesday (today) and Friday.
On Channels Television on Tuesday, Okupe, who is currently Obi’s running mate (place-holder), said that Senator Datti Baba Ahmed and others are being considered for the position.
He said the presidential candidate himself would announce his running mate, adding that Obi and the LP were looking out for a young, vibrant politician from the north with a measure of intellect, a sound background, pedigree and education.
“Senator Datti is being considered." Others are being considered too. These things will be decided this week [it’s going to be an announcement from Peter Obi] very, very likely.
I’m sure about Senator Darti being the running mate, but I know that this matter will be concluded before Friday.
“Senator Datti is being considered along with other people whom we’ve engaged and talked with."
“The emphasis is this: we’re looking for a young, vibrant politician of northern extraction with a measure of intellect, a sound background, pedigree and education." That is what we’re looking at, "he said.
In order to beat the deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the Labour Party and Peter Obi, Dr. Doyin Okupe was picked to temporarily hold the running mate position until a substantive vice presidential candidate is announced.
