Barely few months to the gubernatorial election in Edo State, Hon.

Benjamin Obaseki, brother of Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Citing internal turmoil and a growing disconnect between the party leadership and its members, Benjamin Obaseki's departure underscores the challenges facing the PDP.

In his resignation letter addressed to the Oredo local government chairman of the party, Benjamin Obaseki highlighted the deteriorating state of the PDP under its current leadership. "I am convinced it is time for me to leave for my growth as the leadership of the party has lost touch with its members and hence become insensitive to my plight," he stated, pointing fingers at the party's top brass, including his own brother, Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Benjamin expressed deep concern over the intense infighting plaguing the party at the state level. "It is a pity that the infighting that has engulfed the party at the state level will consume the party, and I do not intend to be consumed alongside," he lamented. His words serve as a stark warning about the party's trajectory, suggesting that the PDP is on the brink of self-destruction.

This resignation is more than a personal decision; it is a reflection of broader issues within the PDP. As the party grapples with internal divisions, the exit of a key member like Benjamin Obaseki raises questions about its future and the ability of its leadership to maintain unity and focus.
