This is not the first neither is it the second news of fire outbreak in a major market in a space of few months.
Reports reaching our desk now is that there is an ongoing fire outbreak now in the popular balogun market Lagos state. This is coming few months after the fire incidents in ochanja market Onitsha and some other markets in the southern Nigeria. According to reports, the men of the fire service are yet to come to the rescue of the traders. People are running helter skelter, some are running to save thier lives while some are crying for thier goods worth millions of naira which is being destroyed by the fire. There is no report yet from the Lagos state government on the incident but we believe help will soon come to the scene in order to put out the fire to avoid further damages.
Two persons have been killed while six others were left severely injured after a fully loaded fuel tanker skidded off track and fell at Amawbia Junction, near the Governor’s lodge in Anambra State.Witnesses say the tanker burst into flames almost immediately after it fell. One four-storey building at the popular Balogun Market on Lagos Island has been gutted by fire on Thursday.According to reports, the building located at Gbajumo street, in Balogun Market, housed traders who sell clothes and shoes.The immediate cause of the incident has not been established as of the time of this report.Meanwhile, the firefighters are already there to quench the raging fire.
