In Maiha local government area of Adamawa State, five hunters have been arrested in connection with the death of a 14-year-old boy.
According to allegations, the suspects tortured the young teenager after suspecting him of stealing N20,000. The case has drawn significant attention and concern from the local community.
Suleiman Nguroje, the state Police Public Relations Officer, issued a statement on the arrests. He confirmed that the hunters were apprehended on Wednesday, June 5, for the “unlawful arrest and torture” of the teenager. The statement further indicated that the suspects are currently under investigation and will be charged in court to ensure justice is served.
Commissioner of Police Dakonmbo Morris strongly condemned the actions of the hunters. He used this incident to remind the public of the dangers and illegality of taking the law into their own hands, emphasizing that such actions will not be tolerated.
