It seems to be a great advantage to Governor Hope Uzodinma as three (3) serving House of Reps members defect from PDP to APC.

In a well-attended ceremony at the Ndubuisi Kanu Square in Owerri, the defectors and their horde of supporters promised to back the Governor's second term bid.

Alongside Kogi and Bayelsa States, Imo holds her gubernatorial elections on November 11, 2023.

Rt. Hon. Bede Uchenna Eke was elected under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in 2015 and was re-elected in 2019.

He represents Aboh Mbaise-Ngor Okpala Federal Constituency in the green chamber.

Eke was a former Board Member, Anambra/Imo River Basin Development Authority and later member, Imo State House of Assembly before his election to the House of Reps.

Hon. Henry Nwawuba was elected under the PDP in 2015 and re-elected in 2019. He defected to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to contest the 2023 House of Reps election where he finished 3rd behind APC's Akarachi Amadi (Winner) and Labour Party's Uche Ogbuagu (1st runner-up).

Hon (Engr.) Ikenna Onyechere Elezieanya was elected in 2019 under the PDP. He represents Owerri West- Owerri North-Owerri Municipal Federal Constituency.

Elezieanya is a former Executive Chairman for Owerri West LGA, and later member, Imo State House of Assembly before his election to the green chamber.

He lost to Labour Party's Tochukwu Chinedum Okere in the 2023 House of Reps election.
