Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV), a candidate for governor on the Labour Party (LP) ticket in Lagos State, has maintained his status as the legitimate party leader, according to his legal team.

Three recent court actions brought against his client's candidacy were dismissed, according to the lead attorney, Olagbade Benson, who spoke to reporters on Monday.

Ifagbemi Awamaridi, a former LP candidate and chairman in Lagos, claimed to have a case against Rhodes-Vivour. Benson, along with attorneys Uchechukwu Ani and Kemi Afesojaye, rejected this assertion.

The attorney proclaimed that the affidavit that Awamaridi was using to represent the court's official position was false.

He mentioned two decisions from the Federal High Court and Court of Appeal supporting Rhodes-Vivour's candidacy.

“Anyone going around parading himself as the candidate of the party, aside from Rhodes-Vivour and others alleging cases before the court, is misleading the public,” Benson said.
He told how Awamaridi filed a suit before the Federal High Court with No. FHC/ABJ/1463/2022, suing LP, GRV, and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
“On the 8th of December, the Federal High Court considered the case and struck it out.”

The lawyer advised any member of the public interested in getting a copy of the judgment to apply because it is a public document.

He said on February 2, 2023, the appellate court terminated Awamaridi’s suit as it was filed outside the time allotted by the law or for pre-election matters.

However, the PDP suit challenging GRV’s candidacy was earlier struck down at the Federal High Court on December 8, 2022, Benson added.
