Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has pledged unwavering support for his Osun State counterpart, Governor Ademola Adeleke, amid the ongoing political challenges facing his administration.

Speaking during the commissioning of the Stadium-Testing Ground-Ilesa Garage section of the Oba Adesoji Aderemi Ring Road in Osogbo, Governor Makinde took a firm stance against the All Progressives Congress (APC), asserting that the party would not secure victories in Oyo and Osun states.

Makinde dismissed claims by APC national chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, who recently boasted about the party’s plans to dominate the South-West following its successes in the Edo and Ondo gubernatorial elections. Emphasizing that the APC’s victories in these states are still being legally contested, Makinde expressed confidence that the courts would overturn the results, ensuring justice for the PDP.

Makinde Highlights Adeleke’s Leadership and Commitment to Development

Makinde commended Governor Adeleke for prioritizing the welfare of Osun residents and completing projects initiated by previous administrations, regardless of political affiliations. He praised Adeleke for finishing the Osogbo Ring Road project, originally started by former Governor Rauf Aregbesola, calling it a testament to true leadership.

“Adeleke didn’t shy away from completing this road because it wasn’t his initiative,” Makinde said. “This kind of leadership, which puts the people first, is what we need in our region. The PDP in Osun and Oyo will continue to champion progress and resist the APC’s overconfidence.”

Makinde Challenges APC’s South-West Ambitions

In a bold response to Ganduje’s comments about the APC targeting Oyo and Osun states, Makinde urged residents to stand firm in support of the PDP. He criticized APC leaders for prioritizing political gains over the people’s interests, emphasizing that the PDP remains the party of progress in the South-West.

Makinde declared, “The game is not over in Edo and Ondo. We believe the hurriedly buried corpse of injustice will be exhumed in court. As for Osun and Oyo, we will not allow them to infiltrate.”

Governor Adeleke Stresses Road Safety Measures

Meanwhile, Governor Adeleke reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to road safety, urging citizens to adhere to traffic regulations on newly completed roads. He directed state agencies to implement safety measures, including the installation of speed breakers, to reduce accidents.

“We are seeing a rise in accidents on newly completed roads due to overspeeding and reckless driving,” Adeleke said. “I urge all road users to prioritize safety, while relevant agencies enforce traffic rules to protect lives.”
