Yesterday in an interview on Channels TV, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri, made a startling revelation about the Kaduna Refinery.
According to Lokpobiri, the refinery is not calibrated to process Nigeria's crude oil.
During the program, Lokpobiri explained, "Nigeria has always imported crude based on the peculiarities of its refineries. For instance, the Kaduna Refinery was designed to refine very thick crude oil, which is why we were importing crude oil from Venezuela."
He emphasized the unique properties of Nigeria's crude oil, stating, "Nigeria’s crude is one of the lightest and sweetest in the world. However, some refineries are not equipped to handle such light crude."
