Disappointment was evident among them, including the late officer, as they discussed the underwhelming payment. The source recounted, “He was visibly worried. The officer was hale and hearty when he resumed for duty and even attended to a few cases.”

After working for a while, Opatola excused himself to visit the restroom. When he didn’t return, colleagues went to check on him and found him lying on the floor. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he was sadly confirmed dead.

Another source speculated that the stress and disappointment over the salary might have aggravated an underlying health issue, leading to his sudden passing. Efforts to contact the Osun Command NSCDC spokesperson, Kehinde Adeleke, for an official statement were unsuccessful, as calls and messages were unanswered at the time of this report.
