An 18 year old girl Monsurat Ojuade has been gruesomely murdered in cold blood late last Friday, 10th September, 2021 by men suspected to be from Ijesha Police station, Surulere, Lagos.
Monsurat and her elder sister was about to close from shop around 10PM when the police started to chase them, the duo manage to escape to their compound which is very close to their shop, and their mother was outside to address the police men before one of the officers shot Monsurat.
Amid uncontrollable tears from the victim's elder sister, Olaide Ojuade, she narrated what transpired the fateful night. She said that at about 11 pm last night, Friday, 10th September, 2021, she and the deceased were about to close shop when they suddenly noticed a stampede. They quickly ran to their compound which is just next to their shop. They were running and screaming at the same time.
On getting to their compound, they both fell down as they were running together holding hands. She narrated that their screaming attracted their mother Mrs Adepeju Olusola Ojuade who was doing some laundry at the time. Their mother had quickly dashed to the gate to barricade it from the pursuing police men.
At this point, their mother went to the gate to barricade the gate. At this point they had not even realised that the persons pursuing them were police men.
While their mother struggled with the police, she heard one of the policemen shout, "I WILL SHOOT" and almost simultaneously, a gun shot rang out and hit her sister who had already stood up from where they had fallen.
The youth in the area are still gathering around demanding that the officer involved should be handed over to them.
May God comfort her family.
