Former Kogi West senator Dino Melaye criticized former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose's presidential ambitions.

Fayose got a People's Democratic Party nomination form on Wednesday in order to run for president on the party's platform.

In a recent interview with Channels TV, Fayose slammed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Senate President Bukola Saraki's presidential bids.

In a statement released on Thursday, Melaye said that Fayose's eating of amala drew more attention than the former governor's presidential desire.

According to Fayose, the video of him eating at a public restaurant was a "pretentious exhibition of dining with the masses" and that the problem in Nigeria isn't "who can eat more but who can generate food."

He said,

Inebriated by several wraps of amala in Abuja, former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, in his characteristic exuberance, directed indecent and indecorous attacks at two serious contenders for the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party, HE Atiku Abubakar and HE Bukola Saraki.
Incidentally, the mauling of amala gained more publicity than the collection of the presidential nomination form, in a pretentious exhibition of dining with the masses.
This frugal populism has since been deflated by allegations of charges for the ferreting of billions of naira from public coffers in Ekiti State. Is amala and abula so expensive?
“The issue before Nigerians now is not who can eat more but who can produce more food." That is why the attempt to tar the outstanding achievements of Atiku Abubakar as former vice-president and Bukola Saraki as former Senate president by Fayose would be discounted as the belching perfidy of a presidential gambler.

It is apparent from Fayose's verbal rockets that he was just de-marketing frontline PDP hopefuls as a counterintuitive approach to boost the chances of his political godfather in APC. Those who aspire to the position must rise beyond commonplace behavior and focus on pressing concerns rather than wasting time on trivialities.

Former Ekiti State Governor Peter Ayodele Fayose has said that there is no autonomy for the local governments yet, as the recent judgement by the Supreme Court is just an academy exercise since the governor still selects the elected local government chairman. He made his opinion known through his X handle this morning. He writes: You see I am not a lawyer but a politician and by the grace of God, an elder statesman and I will be very factual and very sincere. We are...
