One of the 360 House of Representatives members; Hon.
Zakariya Dauda Nyampa has advocated for the modification of the compulsory National Youth Service Corps which is a program meant for fresh before evolving into the labour market and he proposed that graduates should now be enlisted into the Nigerian Army.
Hon. Nyampa who represents representing Michika/Madagali constituency of Adamawa state argued that the military service should replace the mandatory one-year National Youth Services Corps (NYSC) and make it more meaningful and impactful for the country.
He said graduates who do not have the interest to serve as military personnel should be allowed to venture into other endeavors after the mandatory one-year training and service in the Nigerian army.
If this Bill is passed into law, all fresh graduates will be enrolled in the Army and there won’t be NYSC.
It will be recalled that NYSC was established in 22 May 1973 in other to propel a national unity in the country after the civil war.
