In his Christmas day broadcast today, the governor of Rivers State Sim Fubara officially accepted the peace deal made by President Tinubu some days ago.

The governor extends heartfelt gratitude to the people of Rivers State and all well-wishers, including those beyond the borders, for the overwhelming love and support during recent challenges to the state's peace and government stability.

Sim Fubara seizes the moment to express deep appreciation to President Asiwaju Bola Tinubu GCFR, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, for his intervention in averting a crisis that threatened the prevailing peace in Rivers State.

Through a Presidential Peace Proclamation on December 18, 2023, President Tinubu showcases his love for Rivers State, emphasizing the imperative of maintaining perfect peace in the region.

President Tinubu's Peace Proclamation stirs varied reactions across the nation. While some stakeholders vehemently criticize it, others applaud the initiative.

As a key participant in the entire saga, Sim Fubara meticulously analyzes the terms of the Peace Pact. Contrary to some negative portrayals, he concludes that it is not as dire as perceived—a step towards lasting peace in Rivers State, not a death sentence.

Sim Fubara emphatically reiterates his acceptance of the Presidential Peace Proclamation. He commits to implementing its spirit and letters in a manner that restores political stability to the state without compromising the collective interests and democratic values of the people.

Encouraging signs emerge in the implementation process, with both parties demonstrating good faith. The purported impeachment notice is withdrawn, and the government releases previously withheld allowances for State House of Assembly members.

Sim Fubara's journey through these challenges reflects a commitment to peace, stability, and the democratic values cherished by the people of Rivers State.
