The Edo State Police Command has apprehended a 20-year-old self-proclaimed spiritualist, Emmanuel Ebeagbor, also known as Dr Walock.
This arrest comes following investigations into a case of cyber stalking reported at the station.
According to reports from DAILY POST, the suspect specialized in defrauding women by posing as a spiritual problem solver. The Intelligent Rapid Response Squad successfully arrested him in Uromi.
Commissioner of Police in the state, Funsho Adegboye, revealed that the suspect had targeted a woman, requesting a sum of N240,000 to address her spiritual issues. After the victim transferred the money to the suspect's bank account, he went a step further by demanding a nude video from her.
Adegboye disclosed, "She did as he instructed, and two weeks later, the suspect demanded for the sum of N400,000, threatening to post her nude video on the internet."
During the course of the investigation, the police discovered not only the complainant's nude video but also those of other women who had fallen victim to the suspect's fraudulent activities.
The Commissioner of Police emphasized that the suspect would soon face charges in court for his illicit actions.
In an interview with reporters, the arrested individual admitted to introducing himself to the victim as a spiritualist, claiming to offer assistance. Shockingly, he confessed to having lost count of the numerous victims he had exploited.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of staying vigilant and cautious, especially in online interactions. The Edo State Police Command's swift action in apprehending the suspect highlights the commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the public in the face of emerging cyber threats.
