Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, has reacted to the death of Muhammad Sanusi Barkindo, the outgoing Secretary-General of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
Barkindo died at about 11 p.m. on Tuesday at the age of 63 years.
His decision was announced by Mele Kyari, the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, NNPC, Limited.
Barkindo met with President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, the same day he died.
Buhari had commended Barkindo for his contributions to the oil and gas industry.
The President lauded the outgoing OPEC leader for his role in stabilizing the sector.
Reacting to his demise, Sani said Barkindo’s death showed that life was transient.
In a tweet, he wrote: “Muhammad Sanusi Barkindo, former GMD NNPC and, until recently, @OPECSecretariat scribe, was celebrated and honoured yesterday. He died at 11 p.m. yesterday.
“May Allah grant him Aljanna firdausi." Amin. That is the ephemerality and transience of life.
