Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, announced that the ministry would soon begin the verification of the social registrar in order to ensure the transparent distribution of fuel subsidy palliatives.
This was revealed by Edu on Friday during a Channels Television interview that the Daily Post was watching.
She stated that the distribution of the palliatives would start soon by the ministry.
She said poverty alleviation is paramount to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
She added that the government would provide jobs to alleviate poverty.
“We are starting with the Verification of the social registrar to ensure that it is truly made up of people who deserve the fund. We will be creating humanitarian jobs.
“The ministry would be distributing palliatives to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal.
“We will be very transparent to Nigerians; the target is to lift 133 million Nigerians by 2030”, he stated.
The Daily Post reported that Edu, upon resumption of office on Monday, pledged commitment to lifting 133 million Nigerians out of poverty.
