The Federal Government of Nigeria will no longer fund professional Bodies and Councils from the 2024 Budget.

From December 2026, these Bodies will be fully responsible for their personnel, overhead, and capital expenditure.

There are several professional bodies in different sector/industries in the country which include ICAN (Accounting) CIPM (Human resources), CIBN (Banking), CIIT (Tax), CIM(Marketing), NIM (Management) and several others.

The decision is to limit government expenditure in the coming years.

However, with the removal of government support, the registration fee and other expenses for student and members of these professional bodies is set to be drastically increased.
