Rosemary Oromoni, mother of the late Sylvester Oromoni, the 12-year-old boy whose tragic death in 2021 sparked outrage after allegations of bullying at Dowen College in Lagos, has reportedly passed away.

Rosemary’s demise occurred in late November 2024, following health challenges linked to fluctuating blood pressure.

This heartbreaking development comes just months after a Lagos State Coroner Inquest court ruled against the family in April 2024. The court, presided over by Magistrate Mikhail Kadiri, concluded that Sylvester's death resulted from complications related to an enlarged liver and the alleged negligence of his parents and medical treatment.

Sylvester Oromoni Jr. passed away on November 30, 2021, under circumstances that drew widespread public attention. Reports at the time alleged he was bullied and forced to ingest harmful chemicals by five senior students at Dowen College. Named in these allegations were Favour Benjamin, Edward Begue, Ansel Temile, Kenneth Inyang, and Michael Kashamu, the son of late Senator Buruji Kashamu.

The court's findings and the family's ongoing quest for justice have kept the incident in public discourse, underscoring the need for improved safeguards in schools. Mrs. Oromoni’s passing is a reminder of the enduring emotional toll such tragedies leave behind.
