It will be recalled that the Buni led Caretaker Committee was set up to oversee the affairs of the Party following the dissolution of the Adams Oshiomhole led National Working Committee (NWC). The committee had the mandate to reconcile aggrieved members and conduct national convention within six months.

Following its failure to announce plans for the convention, as the six-month tenure comes to an end December, there were clamours for the Committee members to resign or their tenures extended.

On Tuesday, however, the APC NEC announced the extension of the Caretaker Committee tenure to enable it meet up with its responsibilities of conducting a convention.

Earlier, the NEC announced the dissolution of all the Local Government and States' chapters of the party across the 36 states and the FCT.

The meeting also dissolved structures of the party at the zonal levels including the South South, South East, South West, North East, North West and North Central.

The meeting which is still ongoing is taking place at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja and attended by President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice, Professor Yemi Osinbanjo.

Others in attendance include members of the Mai Buni led National Caretaker Committee, Governors elected under the party platform. States chairmen of the party, zonal leaders and other members of the NEC are attending virtually.
