It was claimed that Obsseki certificate that certifies him to have obtained a Higher School Certificate from the Institute of Continuing Education in Benin but that he did not produce the certificate and that the document he produced only attested to his attendance. Also, his NYSC certificate doesn't carry his name, as it carries Obasek instead of Obaseki.

These were the same certificates used by the governor to contest for the sit he currently hold but reason why this is just coming out is unknown.

However, the Edo State PDP have decided to harbor the governor under their umbrella and give him ticket to run for governor.
