At least ten Manchester United players could be released this summer.
The likes of Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, and Edinson Cavani, as well as fourth-choice goalkeeper Lee Grant, are all out of contract next month, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Last year, the club exercised the one-year option on Mata, Cavani, Pogba, and Lingard's contracts.
Matic declined the option of an additional year and announced his exit last month.
At the academy level, goalkeeper Ondrej Mastny, full-back Reece Devine, midfielders Charlie Wellens and Connor Stanley, as well as forwards D’Mani Mellor and Mateo Mejia, are out of contract.
Mejia and Wellens have one-year options included in their contracts, but it is unclear if either will be exercised.
There is also uncertainty over whether United will trigger the one-year extension in Dylan Levitt’s contract as he approaches the final month of his deal.
