Akwa United survived an armed robbery attack along Ogoni Road, Rivers State, on their way from Ibadan after engaging Kwara United in a Nigeria Premier Football League matchday five encounter.
The Promise Keepers lost the game 2-1, their second defeat of the campaign.
The team bus, according to information made available to the Naijacrawl, ran into a roadblock mounted by hoodlums.
The driver, on noticing the illegal roadblock, reversed the bus back to safety, but the robbers pelted the vehicle with dangerous weapons and smashed the window.
Fortunately, no lives were lost in the incident, and the team returned to Uyo safely afterwards.
