In a statement on social media, Arsenal confirmed the signing of Marquinhos, a 19-year-old Brazilian attacker who has been playing for Sao Paulo.
Arsenal’s board have announced the arrival of their first signing of the transfer window. The English club officially welcomed Marquinhos, a 19-year-old Brazilian youngster from Sao Paulo.
“We’re delighted to have completed the transfer with Sao Paulo, as Marquinhos was a player we had been watching for a while. At 19, he is still very young, so he is a player for the future.
We look forward to Marquinhos now joining us for pre-season, making his new home, and continuing to grow and develop with us,” said Edu, who works in the English club’s sporting department.
Marquinhos made his first-team debut for Sao Paulo in the 2021 season at the age of 18. Since then, he has made a total of 42 appearances and played a part in the Brazilian side’s run to the Campeonato Paulista last year.
In addition, the young striker was part of Brazil’s youth national teams, and in the next few days he will travel to London to join Arsenal’s pre-season training camp and take his first steps in European football.
