Taiwo Awoniyi, a forward for the Super Eagles, has been put forward for the Premier League Player of the Month award for August.

Awoniyi received praise for the impressive performances he gave during the month's Tricky Trees.

In three league appearances for Nottingham Forest last month, the 26-year-old scored three goals.

On the first day of the season, the striker scored in the 2-1 loss to Arsenal.

Awoniyi also scored in the 3-2 loss at Manchester United and the 2-1 wins over Sheffield United at home.

Jared Bowen, James Madison, Rodri, Kaoru Mitoma, and Bryan Mbeumo are the other players nominated for the award.
