Bendel Insurance outshine El-Kanemi, close in on NPFL unbeaten record
Bendel Insurance moved closer to equaling the unbeaten record in the Nigeria Premier Football League after a 2-1 home win against El-Kanemi Warriors on Saturday.
Monday Odigie’s side are unbeaten after 15 games this season.
It was also the Benin Arsenals’ first win in their last six league outings.
Insurance took the lead on 54 minutes courtesy of Sarki Ismael’s header.
Austine Ogunye doubled the advantage four minutes later.
El-Kanemi Warriors were awarded a penalty on 69 minutes after a player was fouled inside the box.
Muhammed Hussaini calmly slotted the ball home sending Amas Obasogie the wrong way.
Insurance extended their lead at the top of the Group A table to seven points following the win.
El-Kanemi remain rooted to the bottom spot following another disappointing defeat.
